Nain Jame mosque(congregational mosque) in Nain City, Isfahan province, is one of the oldest mosques in Iran that remains from early Islam centuries and even some specialist believe that the architecture drove from prophet Mohammad mosque in Madina, Saudi Arabia. The French professor, Arthur Pops believes that the foundation of the mosque goes back to the 9th century. even though the mosque is so old, it still preserves its original architecture and sill in used and protecting by ran’s cultural heritage organization. Except for a domed prayer hall of the mosque, which dated back to the Buyid era, the other structures were built in 1304-1325 and belong to the Il- Khanid period.

In the middle of the courtyard, eight steps lead to a qanat, from which they could obtain drinking water in the past.
there is also a fantastic basement(dug) under the mosque which built to use during the summer as the weather is so hot in this season. they Intelligently Improvise some skylight between the marble stones of the yard to illuminate the basement.

The mosque contains a central rectangular courtyard that is surrounded with hypostyles on three sides.in one of these hypostyles there is a mihrab( shows the direction of Mecca(qibla))full of unbelievable stuccowork .next to the mihrab there is a very old wooden pulpit(tribune) which belong to the 12 century and decorated with elegant fretwork. Quran verses, dedicator name, artist name and production date are carved on this fabulous pulpit.
The mosque was built on a four-iwan plan and The north iwan , is mostly remarkable for its lofty arch and interior plaster decorations.
